The Hinge
Sometimes you choose to turn the corner, start a new chapter, change direction— to look forward, not back. A season ends, an arc completes, the culmination arrives, and today becomes a fresh start. This may simply be a declaration to yourself—for your sanity. Why lug endless baggage, second-guess, or worry, when the past asks to be released? The hinge swings wide, and the whole horizon changes.
I wrote this as the motivational speech I needed to hear at the start of summer. Although it doesn’t contain religious language, I used it to close a sermon on September 21st called “Summer is Ended” about the parable of the unjust steward and the prophet Jeremiah, reflecting on seasons of change in our lives and the world. The sermon audio is below, and on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, etc.
