Ps 139 Micro to Macrocosm
God, you know me in microcosm, all my details, travels and detours. You fathom my mind like the ocean, guiding me in life and death, in dark and light. You formed my every cell from zygote to birth, becoming an intelligent being yearning for enlightenment. When human hatred infects my restless heart, show my soul your macrocosm.
Ps 146 Alleluia!
Alleluia! Sing my soul, praise God to be alive. Politics may be perilous and human leaders perish, but our eternal creator cares and loves all people— giving justice to the innocent, food to the hungry, freedom to the prisoner, welcome to the migrant, hope to the one who feels alone. God lifts us up and frees us from fear, from generation to generation. Alleluia!
These are the last (for now) in a series of short Ps poems inspired by the Psalms that I’ve written over the past year: Ps 1 & 23 / Ps 30 & 42 / Ps 51 & 84 / Ps 95 & 100 (Morning) / Ps 118 & 130 / Ps 46 / Ps 4 & 91 (Compline). These 15 offerings are a tithe in gratitude for the endless richness of the Psalter.
